Marcy's Cruiser 63 Camera Review:

I bought this camera on eBay for some measly amount. It says "Cruiser NY" and "Made in U.S.A." on it. I asked some knowledgeable folks about the background of this camera. They believe it to be a Wirgin. I looked up Wirgin at and they list it as being worth between $20 and $40. If this camera's a Wirgin, then so am I. The camera is in great condition and works like a charm. But it's just a plain-jane folder.  Besides, I got it on eBay, I couldn't possibly have gotten a good deal!

I took my first road trip in my new Jeep Wagoneer. A Thanksgiving over-nighter to Seattle. The name of the camera was the deciding factor for bringing it along. Cruiser - road trip. It just fit. I could finally get away from all of those dog-on-the-beach scenes I'd been photographing. So, what did I do when I got to Seattle? I took my dog to the beach.

The Cruiser 63 accepts 120 film. Eight 6x9 images per roll. Lens is coated Anastigmat F6.3 105mm. To the left of the lens it says "Cruiser NY". CRUISER is also stamped into the leather. The shutter speeds range from "B" and 25 to 125. F stops: 6.3 to 22. There's a chrome screw in the lens cover part of the camera that, when removed, the hole is a tripod mount. Kind of a weird place for that. Anyway, if anyone can add any info about this camera, I'd appreciate it!

The day after Thanksgiving I photographed this baby seal with the Cruiser 63. I know...a baby seal? In November on Puget Sound?

McKeown's PRICE GUIDE TO ANTIQUE AND CLASSIC CAMERAS 2001-2002 doesn't list a Cruiser 63, However, here's what they say about the Cruiser: " 1950. Folding camera for 6x9cm exposures on 120 rollfilm. Made by Wirgin. [Okay... so I was wrong.] Cast-metal body with leatherette covering. Folding optical finder. Wirgin Edinar f6.3/105mm. Vario shutter B, 25, 50, 100. PC sync. $15-30."
