We made a spur of the moment decision to visit the Grand Canyon for Christmas day. When taking a trip, deciding on what photographic equipment to bring is my biggest concern. This time, I chose (mainly for its cuteness and ease of use) the Canonet QL17 GIII.
I also threw my Nikon D700 into the camera bag. We hopped in the Honda and drove the few thousand miles that it took to get there. (Click on the images below for a larger view.)
Spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at the Grand Canyon was beautiful, cold, warm, freezing, and somewhat crowded. Though I doubt it was anywhere near as crowded as it gets in the summer.
Of course we brought the dog. Hawkeye sees the Grand Canyon for the first time:
A few shots from the canyon:
Just a little glitch. We left the canyon a little later in the season than we’d planned, but we’ve heard about a shortcut on our route!
Though our supplies are lacking, we’ve decided to winter over. This place we’re in … somehow it’s made us hungry …
So effing funny, though the video of Hawkeye on the canyon’s edge gave me the heebee-geebee’s. And the poop – looks ceyote – must have been Wiley up there at the edge of the canyon. No fear of heights there.
Awesomeness!! So good to see you and Bob and Hawkeye enjoying yourselves. The Donner Party always gets a laugh.
Head hunters in their finest! Great shots!
“Always with the jokes, Marcy” besides being funny, your shots reflect a unique perspective and personality-and are, dare I say, beautiful to boot.
You captured a great shot of the ice princess. You have had so much fun and been so artistically expressive in this project. Have a great 2018.
